The Celestine Prophecy (2006)

Disillusioned and temporarily rudderless, John Woodson is about to experience a dramatic and profound metamorphosis. Through a mysterious set of coincidences, he finds himself on an adventure to Peru in search of ancient scrolls, known as the Celestine Prophecy. The prophecy and its nine key insights, predict a new awakening that redefines human life and provides a glimpse into a completely spiritual culture on earth. Resistant at first, skeptical and unsure, John finds that each step he takes, each person he encounters leads him to a new awakening. It is only in this letting go that he finds his destiny and comes to understand the meaning that had escaped him when his adventure began. Written by James Redfield

I did not write the summary above. My overall opinion on this film is it is a great film for those interested in spirituality above that of organized religion. The story (which I believe to be fiction) was a bit slow and the acting was a slightly below average, but the message and visuals were wonderful and inspiring.

I have learned about and come to hold true many of the concepts which gives the film a place on my must see list. Favorite scenes for me was when John reached the level of awareness that those around him have been guiding him reach, and the end when they found the ninth prophecy. These scenes had great visuals and reminded me of a friend I have that told me how he can see the colorful auras (life’s energy) of all living things. I believe him even if I have never experienced it myself. Seeing this in a film was an AH-HA moment for me, realizing that is entirely possible with the correct mindset. I hope to achieve it myself someday. The prophecy is made up of nine insights we must discover to enlighten our existence and understand it meaning. Love, kindness, and giving, are a few concepts in these insights. The film provides some understanding of their importance but not very detailed on the how-to. I assume that the books cover this a bit better. The message I got from this is that we all should love unconditional and give our love freely to those around us everyday, because love is life energy and life feeds off life and amplifies itself creating more life.  There is a surprise in the end that leaves the story and message open for continuation, but I wont reveal that here.

As for me, I continue on my path of self-discovery adding the messages of this film to my library of knowledge and hope that my readers do the same. I have not read the books yet, but they have been added to my reading list.

Love for all!
