Imagine a world of average folks decide to take back their lives from a world of criminals ad fight crime like comic book superheroes. Neighbors and friends with no super powers such as flying or heat vision. Who wear ridiculous costumes and battling toe to toe with bullies and gang-bangers unleashing a new brand of justice to those who prey on the weak and defenseless. Now imagine this craze was started by a not so special comic book geek who dares to ask and answer the question. “How come nobody’s ever tried to be a superhero?”
Kick-Ass (2010) is based on a comic book series written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. It is published by Marvel Comics under the company’s Icon imprint. The rights to the film were sold before the first issue was published. When the film is released the comic-book’s first 8 issues will be completed.
The story begins with Dave Lizewski, a normal teenager from New York puts on a green-and yellow wetsuit to become the vigilant comic book hero by the name of Kick-Ass. Dave soon discovers the main reason for a lack of superheroes in our everyday society. “Because, it hurts!” Against the odds, novice crime fighter Dave’s popularity increases with each encounter. Videos of his battles go viral on the internet and spark the imaginations of other world-be heroes and so spawns the father-daughter team, Big Daddy and Hit Girl. The new duo slowly starts to take down local kingpin Frank D’Amico’s criminal empire. The superhero threat causes Frank to take measures to protect his illegal enterprises. Frank puts the word out to all his cronies to take down any superhero the find. Fellow hero Red Mist also known as Chris son of Frank D’ Amico, is forced to become an enemy of Kick-Ass. Dave must now face of with once friend Chris must now battle it out. Will our average hero live up to his name, or will this be the last we see of Kick-Ass?
