Invasion of privacy is for your own good.
In the news today there was talk about a gentlemen refusing to be scanned and refusing to be felt up by some unknown so called security person. On top of that, many stories about scanned images form airline security scanners have appeared on Internet, after assurances that no such images would ever stored.
It is starting look at bit fishy to conspiracy theorist that the government is collecting data on us, (the average citizens) with intentions that remain unclear at this time. The man in question refused to be scanned because he did not want to be seen naked by some stranger. Is alternative was a full body pat down procedure that may have included a groin grope, which he refused verbally with “You touch my junk and I’m going to have you arrested.”
When did metal scanners become not good enough? I understand the need to keep are airlines safe, but it is almost impossible to plan, check and protect for every possible threat. The way I understand this situation is, he was chosen from a group of individuals that were not required to undergo the same treatment. He was given a choice between a body imaging scan which would essentially reveal a nude image of him to a stranger or a pat down which may include the touching of his genital area. I would like it explained to me just how this extensive pat down would reveal a balloon full of anthrax stuck in the anal cavity of a suicidal terrorist. Will full body cavity searches now be required from those refusing the scanners? Will either of these measures protect anyone from a terrorist that is carrying a fatal airborne virus? I think not! We currently have no protection from any kind of biological attack on an airplane. If security is so important, that it requires an invasion of privacy, why is it that the security terminals are located well inside the airport? Is it not just a much of a threat to have a bomb in the airport as it is on the plane? Will it not take just as many lives if not more?
The point of the security is stop terrorists from being able to take over the plane and take hostages to use as leverage to meet their insane demands. I have an idea. It might be a bit crazy. Lets focus on preventing those scenarios from happening on the plane, with increased air marshals and better cockpit security. Or maybe we could give each passenger a pod to ride in that is locked down before take off. Even locked down pods would not be enough to eliminate all possible threats.
I feel these new security measures are invading the privacy and personal space of “we the people”. In addition the scanners use x-ray technology, and demanding on your believes, this may be dangerous to your health. Another thing that bothered me was a rumor that Muslim women may be except from such patting and scanning because of religious believes, this I find to be a kick in the face on top of everything else.
I for one plan to avoid flying anywhere if at all possible. If I do have to fly I will try to find an airline that doesn’t want to perform a personal invasion such as anal probes, MRI, or blood, urine, and stool samples.

He is opposed on principle to the X-ray machines because it would show an image of his naked body, said Tyner, who blogs as “Johnny Edge.”

Remember the TSA’s promise that their advanced body scanners “cannot store, print, transmit or save the image, and the image is automatically deleted from the system”? That assertion is now being challenged after it has been revealed that a millimeter wave scanner did in fact store 35,000 images, 100 of which have now turned up on the internet.
